NJ Future Stars Wrestling League (FS)

• K- 8 JV Wrestling League

• Developmental League

  • Bridges gap for wrestlers moving from novice 

  • League for older and heavier wrestlers with less experience

• All JV/V wrestlers will participate until:

  • Coaches determine their skills exceed competition

  • Wrestlers have won 3 varsity league matches in the current season. (Excluding forfeits.)

• Teams are responsible for scheduling their own matches and supplying their own officials.

• Standard NFHS Folkstyle rules apply

• There are no weight classes for dual meets

• Coaches will supply the opposing coach a list of participating wrestlers at least 2 days prior to the match.  Coaches will work together to create fair match-ups.

• Keeping team score is discouraged. If kept, team score should not be reported.

• Bout length may either be 1-1-1 or 1:30-1-1. Decision to be made by coaches based on the number of bouts.

• Headlocks from neutral are prohibited. If a headlock from feet occurs the wrestlers will be returned to neutral.

• In case of a first period pin, the match will move to the second period with the wrestler who was pinned having the choice of top, bottom or neutral. A second pin by either wrestler (or the conclusion of the third period) ends the match.

• All other rules (including clasping/locked hands) SHOULD be followed by the officials.

• Season culminates in a tournament early February
