Hudson Farm Club Charity Hike - Saturday May 19th
Your help is needed! We are asking for Volunteers to assist with this year’s Charity Hike. If you attended last year’s hike you understand that this great event has attracted many supporters. Charitable entities such as the Fire Department, Parent Teacher Organizations (HEPTO, MSPTO, HHSPTSO), Sports (Warriors, Track, Little League, Wrestling, Soccer), CERT, PBA Local 149, all benefit from this event. This allows these groups to provide support and quality programs for the community.
How can I help?
The Hopatcong Youth Wrestling Board is asking for people to help with some of the following areas to ensure this year’s event is the best yet:
- Registration
- Starting Line
- Trail Guide
- Finish Line
- Parking
The hike will be held on 5/19/12 and start times for the event are 7:30am and 11:30am. If you can volunteer you would be encouraged to arrive no later than 7:00 and may be asked to arrive a bit earlier or the day before to receive some quick training on select positions. Last year’s event had over 1,200 people attend for the hike. As you can imagine it takes a lot of people to help make the day a pleasant event.
If you feel that you can help with some of the above volunteer positions please let Paul Mastroeni (973) 879-8052 or Anthony Luciani (201) 874-1412 know ASAP. Please provide you name, email and cell number and what position you would like to help with your response.
How does the event work?
If you can't volunteer this year but would still like to hike, we really need the support. The hike takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to complete. After you register you will start the hike. Trail Guides, at checkpoints along the trail, will record your information as you pass. When you complete the entire hike you will be awarded $1 per year of age.
Example if you are 50 years old you will receive $50 in play money. You will then be able to take your earnings and donate it to the organizations listed above. You can give some to each group or however you want to divide it! After the event, Hudson Farm staff will calculate the amounts given to each group and pay each group that amount. (In real money)
Again, this is a great event that is fun for everyone from 1 to 100! Please come out to help these worthy causes in our community.
Thank you!.
